Rise of the Six

IceomenUpdated 6/9/2026

Overview

Rise of the Six is a dangerous Barrows encounter where you fight all six corrupted Barrows brothers together in a private arena. It is much more punishing than a normal Barrows chest run: the fight is multiway, teleporting is blocked once the encounter starts, and death is unsafe.

Where to get a Barrows totem

Barrows totems are earned from Barrows reward chests. They can also appear from donor Barrows reward bonuses. A totem is the key item for Rise of the Six.

How to enter

Activate a Barrows totem from your inventory and choose to consume it. The totem is removed when the encounter is created, then you are moved into the Rise of the Six arena.

Before you enter

  • Clear any pending Rise of the Six reclaim items first.
  • Bring enough food, prayer, restores, and combat supplies for sustained multiway damage.
  • Leave inventory space for rewards, especially if you are expecting supplies or equipment.
  • Only risk gear you are willing to reclaim if the run goes badly.

Encounter rules

  • All six brothers spawn after a short delay.
  • The arena is multiway, so multiple brothers can attack you at the same time.
  • Once you have entered the encounter, teleporting out is blocked until the fight is completed.
  • The encounter is completed only after all six brothers are down together.

Kill timing

Defeating one brother does not permanently remove him while the others are still alive. Defeated brothers begin recovering, and the remaining brothers are healed slightly when one of them falls. The practical goal is to lower several brothers, then finish all six close together before the defeated ones restore.

Brother mechanics

  • Ahrim the Blighted attacks with magic. He can freeze you with Ice Rush, cast weakening curses, and punish players who are not protecting from magic.
  • Dharok the Wretched becomes more dangerous as his hitpoints drop. His delayed smash can be avoided by moving away from the tile you were standing on when he began the attack.
  • Guthan the Infested uses melee, can shove and briefly hold you in place, and can heal from damage he deals.
  • Karil the Tainted uses ranged attacks. His rapid-fire phase greatly increases pressure, and his hits can drain Agility.
  • Torag the Corrupted uses melee, can reflect damage for a short time, and can drain your run energy.
  • Verac the Defiled uses melee, can hit through protection prayers, and may disable your active prayers.

Death and reclaim

Rise of the Six is unsafe. If you die, the Strange Old Man retrieves some of your items. Return to the Strange Old Man at Barrows and collect them before starting another run.

Rewards

Every completion awards 1-3 Malevolent energy. The main reward roll can then produce a rare kiteshield, a piece of regular Barrows equipment, or six supply rolls.

  • Rare kiteshields include the Malovelent kiteshield, Mercicless kiteshield, and Vengeful kiteshield.
  • Regular Barrows equipment can come from the standard Barrows wight equipment pool.
  • Supply rolls can include coins, runes, bolt racks, herbs, food, bones, and potions.

Malevolent energy and Bobbled rewards

Malevolent energy is used for the Barrows Bobbled rewards. Each Bobbled reward requires the matching Barrows armour set plus 250 Malevolent energy. The available rewards are Ahrim the Bobbled, Dharok the Bobbled, Guthan the Bobbled, Karil the Bobbled, Torag the Bobbled, and Verac the Bobbled.

Quick tips

  • Plan the fight around kill timing, not one-at-a-time kills.
  • Watch Dharok and Verac carefully when your protection prayers or movement are disrupted.
  • Save run energy for movement during dangerous specials.
  • Reclaim from the Strange Old Man before attempting another Rise of the Six run.
